Have you thought well-nigh interlocking deck tiles? Sounds like a much more than manageable DIY task to me. There are lots of woods patterns, but they come in granite and other materials, too.

Oh Pat, I experience your hurting! We have river rock just the same from the early lxxx's and information technology has tufts of weeds growing upwards through it. Since we demand to besides resurface our pool we had quite a few contractors come in and about would not even entertain the idea of taking the river rock up, wanting to place pavers on top. We want information technology gone as information technology is not well adhered to the concrete slab underneath in most places. Finally found a contractor willing to do it, but we were ready to slowly practice the chore ourselves if nosotros had to. Anyway, we are going for a nice stamped concrete instead of pavers, cheaper, easier to maintain and I really like the look of the light color and "flagstone" type finish we have called. Am expecting information technology to terminal a long long fourth dimension. Information technology depends how adept at DIY you are, I know my married man could "do it" simply since nosotros are having the pool resurfaced, it just was easier (and quicker) to have the whole thing taken care of by a contractor. I will eventually be posting pictures (before and after) when the chore is done. Best of luck! :-)Jill on Sep thirteen, 2022
Start off, no matter what you make up one's mind to use to remodel your patio with you should use something to get rid of the mold. Otherwise, information technology merely continue getting worse every bit time goes by, even with pavers and such. Why not just have it resurfaced after dealing with the mold. All you demand is some blazon of aggrate or pebbles and an epoxy. Y'all don't even need to remove the onetime 1. If there are any places where the stone is coming up, just loosen it away advisedly, and so simply lay the new stuff on top. It will also hide the crack you are currently seeing and allow the h2o to drain thru if you lot put it on right. My back lanai was the aforementioned, screened in and occasionally rain and some mold. Had not slip tile put over information technology and it looks and cleans beautifully. Some other solution, my pool deck was the same river rock, which you had to seal every year and repair, had a contractor come in and he put a skim coat of concete all over with slight pattern and then painted information technology with pool deck paint, at present I only take to paint every 2 years only because it does non have a screen over.

Then you'd recommend the concrete sprayed over the river rock on the covered lanai past my pool? I am so tired of the upkeep and weeds and dirty look of the river rockAh, Florida! The retirement Oasis of the 80's-ninety'due south. Oops, someone forgot to tell you they were building on what remains still a hot, sunny, wet, humid, buggy swamp!
